Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best bettors in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
