NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
