Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve last poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
