Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve final table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors in the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
