No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
