Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
