I have been betting poker now for about five years, I have bet cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so eloquently called, card on head game. I used to often win, whatever casino game we were betting and even though I liked to call it skill, it was incredibly difficult to warrant thinking about the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was pleased to accept I was having a long-term run of luck.
Then came Poker, or a lot more importantly Texas hold’em Poker, made popular by a group of Texas card players in the sixties and since developed into one of the largest card phenomena ever seen. Poker is absolutely the new black, it truly is ultra cool with many of the world’s top stars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels these days and it is possible to not escape from poker, and obviously there’s the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each and every individual gambler.
So with all of this new found recognition, with so many Tv shows dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are people going to learn that this casino game is all about position!?
Perhaps I should not obtain so worked up about this, after all the much more people who wrestle with the delicate tactics and methods necessary for succeeding consistently at Texas hold em, the better it is for everyone else, right? I mean, if they can not be troubled to look at all of the offered details about why location is so critical, why ought to we bother? We should just be glad there’s another fish at the table!
It is true, we really should not encourage inactivity with advice and assist. However, I liken this to a friendly game of football. Naturally the levels are not so superior, except when you see a player struggling, you help them, offer them some advice, ultimately showing them a method to get pleasure from, like and appreciate the casino game as much as you. I am calling on all home players to do a similar thing with their poker buddies who haven’t quite grasped the subtleties of betting position. Help them to grow their respect for the game.
