NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
